Asbestosis Compensation Claims

Asbestosis is the most common disease caused by asbestos exposure. It is caused by breathing in asbestos fibres which scars and thickens the lung tissues. This damage makes it less easy for the lungs to inflate on breathing.

Corries Solicitors are experts in asbestos compensation claims. We handles all asbestos claims on a No Win, No Fee basis, meaning that you do not pay anything if your claim is unsuccessful. Our friendly experts are here to help you through the claims process. For a free consultation call Corries Solicitors at 0800 083 7839 or contact us online

What are the symptoms of asbestosis?

The symptoms can take from 10 to 40 years or more from the initial exposure to asbestos to manifest.

• Shortness of breath
• Tightness in the chest
• Persistent dry cough

Who is most at risk of developing asbestosis?

People who are most at risk of developing asbestosis are those who were directly exposed to asbestos in the workplace. People who worked in the following occupations  are most at risk:

• Shipyard workers
• Carpenters and joiners
• Electricians
• Fitters
• Boilermakers

Some people have got asbestosis from fibres that others have brought home on their clothes.

Is there a time limit for making an asbestosis claim?

You must make a claim within three years of being diagnosed with asbestosis. If a loved one has passed away, you have up to three years from the date they were diagnosed of from when they died to make a claim.

As asbestosis can take decades to develop, we can still help you with your claim even if:

• Your former employer has ceased trading.
• You don't know when you were exposed.
• You did not work for the company where the asbestos was.

How much will my asbestosis claim be worth?

The amount of asbestosis compensation that you may receive is dependent upon the individual circumstances of your case. The amount will depend on factors such as:

• The severity of illness.
• Your future care and support needs.
• Your financial losses, including medical expenses and loss of earnings
•  Inability to continue or enjoy hobbies

My husband has died of asbestosis can I make a claim?

If your husband has died as a result of asbestosis, you could be eligible to claim.

My dad has died of asbestos, can I make a claim?

If your dad has died as a result of asbestosis, you could be eligible to claim as a dependent or on behalf of his widow or as an executor of his estate.
