Is there a time limit for making a claim for Asbestos?
This is a question that concerns many people. Most asbestos exposures occurred many years ago, most usually in the 1960’s ’70s or early ’80s. However, you may not become ill as a result of the exposure until 30 – 45 years later. You can only make a claim once you have been diagnosed with an asbestos illness.
You must make a claim within three years of being diagnosed with asbestos-related lung cancer. This would often be once the doctor had confirmed that you had an illness and in his opinion, it is related to asbestos.
My husband has died of asbestos-related cancer can I make a claim?
If a loved one has passed away, we can still make a claim up to three years from the date of the diagnosis. This claim is made on behalf of the estate of the deceased, which is often a spouse and sometimes children.
