Action Mesothelioma Day – 6th July 2018
Victims of the asbestos cancer mesothelioma will be remembered in Action Mesothelioma Day (AMD) on Friday 6th July 2018.
What is it about?
AMD is a special day is an annual day used to raise awareness of mesothelioma and to remember those suffering or who died due to this disease. It is a nationwide event.
What is mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is a cancer which is caused by exposure to asbestos. It mostly affects the lining between the lung and the rib cage – known as the pleura. However it can affect other body parts. Here is a link to our web page about the condition here
Currently about 2700 people a year in the UK are diagnosed with mesothelioma. The number of victims affected is not slowing down and is expected to continue to 2040 or possibly beyond. it has claimed tens of thousands of deaths to date and will affect tens of thousands more in the years to come.
Support Groups
There are various asbestos support groups throughout the UK who are running events. In addition Mesothelioma UK are running events. The details for this and how to sponsor or support AMD can be found here

What are Corries doing?
We are always very keen at Corries to support asbestos disease victims. We have attended many events and had events in the office. This year we shall simply have a dress down day and will be making a donation to asbestos charities to help the support the great work that they do.
Acting for victims we think every minute helping them is precious so our team will be working to help those with us to make a difference.
