How do you Treat Whiplash?

Your doctor will ask you questions and examine your head, neck and arms to check the following :

● If certain movements cause discomfort and pain.

How is whiplash treated?
Whiplash treatment aims to get you back to your normal way of life as soon as possible..
Your doctor will advise on a treatments such as : :
● Pain management
● Exercise
● Physiotherapy
Pain Management:
Your doctor may prescribe or recommend any of the below treatments:
● Paracetamol or ibuprofen.
● Your doctor may prescribe stronger medication such as codeine.
● Hot or cold compress
● Rest will usually be advised for the first couple of days following the accident.
Exercises for easing whiplash :
Your doctor may prescribe stretches and movements to help restore your full range of motion in your neck, such as :
- Tilting your head from side to side.
- Bending your neck towards your chest.
- Rolling your shoulders.
- Rotating your neck in either direction.
Physiotherapy
Your doctor may recommend physiotherapy. A physiotherapist will be able to manage and discuss manipulating your neck and shoulders to ease your pain.
Osteopathy
Your doctor might recommend osteopathy may be required to treat any serious issues with your joints and muscles in your neck, back and shoulders.
