How long does it take to receive compensation for injuries?
There are a number of different factors, such as :
● Serious injuries take longer to settle.
● If liability to pay is agreed
● The time it takes you to recover.
Does the type of accident affect how long an injury compensation claim takes?
Different types of claims typically take longer to settle :
Injury claims up to £25,000:
Personal injury claims worth up to £25,000 will be processed through the “Pre-Action Protocol” These claims typically include, road accidents, work accidents, slipping or falling accidents :
Claims handled through the portal usually take around 9 -12 months to settle.
Does the type of injury affect how long the claim will take?
The type of injury and the type of accident will affect the time it will take.
If your injuries are minor you will be able to attend a medical within a few weeks of the date of the accident, however, if you have suffered serious injuries you may need to wait several months. This will mean that compensation will take longer.
Liability is denied, will my claim take longer?
