Second Federal Trial of an Ethicon Transvaginal Mesh
On 5th September 2014, the US District Court, Southern District of West Virginia handed down a key decision. It held that a woman who received a TVT-O (TVT Obturator) mesh device should be compensated to the amount of $3.25 million. The trial lasted two weeks and has been the second federal trial surrounding an Ethicon transvaginal mesh. The Plaintiff, which is referred to as a Claimant in English Courts, suffers from chronic pelvic pain despite undergoing multiple reparation procedures to remove the mesh.
Although the law differs widely in English and Wales from the United States of America, this is a fantastic step forward. We welcome this decision. It is our hope that this encourages ladies who have found themselves injured by mesh devices to come forward and seek legal advice.
We are currently instructed by a number of ladies in relation to mesh devices and hope that the recent decision in the USA reminds women they are not alone and that legal firms may be able to help them seek financial compensation for the problems with which they have been faced.
